My name is Holly Greader and I am a UK Disability Advocate and Blogger. The World in My Words began in 2017. I have a no topic off limits approach to discussing Disability. I write and share my experiences with Disability in the hope it helps at least one person feel less alone.

Dietz Mobility Power chair – Is it worth it?

    19 March 2025 /

I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user and for the last two years I have been using the Dietz Sango Advanced power wheelchair. The decision to buy this wheelchair was a big one and one I do not regret in any way.  Before Brum – my power chair: Before Brum I was using a manual self-propel wheelchair with a power add-on, essentially turning my self-propel into a small power chair. This was perfect for me when I bought it, it lasted me several years around 5 years I believe. During year’s 4 and 5 we started to discuss what the next step would be if we could afford to replace it –…

    Accessible Glamping in Wales

    4 July 2023 /

AD | This experience was gifted to me by Dulas Glamping in exchange for a review. My review is honest and entirely my own. My happy place is the outdoors, whether that’s in the countryside or by the sea. Growing up I got to do a lot of both. I’d visit the New Forest with my Grandparents and we would ride our bikes for miles. It’s a feeling I have not yet been able to replicate since becoming a wheelchair user. The countryside isn’t a particularly accessible place, which is why I am excited to share my experience with Dulas Glamping.  Pippa from Dulas Glamping kindly gifted us our stay…

Canal Quarter – Cardiff Council’s Response to Concerns Over Loss of Blue Badge Parking

    7 May 2022 /

I sent an email to various members of the council.  The email I sent to the council included 2 questions.  How many Blue Badge bays are you relocating?  Where will Blue Badge parking be relocated? 10th January 2021, I sent my first email to numerous members of Cardiff Council. I received two responses. First Response Cardiff Council: 11th January 2021, ‘at present we are aiming to move all of the spaces to other locations in the city centre. We are working on an enabling package for the wider scheme, part of this will hopefully see us move all of the lost spaces to new locations in Windsor Place and the…

2 Years with the Alber E-Fix Wheelchair Power Add On

    31 December 2020 /

March 2020 marked 2 years since I got my Alber E-Fix Power Add On. I worked really hard on putting this blog post together whilst also relaunching this site. However, as Covid-19 hit the UK in March and we were all under lockdown it didn’t feel appropriate to post this blog. We aren’t any better off than we were in March if anything we’re in a worse position. However, I still wanted to share the last 2 years with my E-Fix with you and along with some overwhelming support over on my Instagram I decided it was time to post.  So without further ado… 2 Years with the Alber E-Fix…

Disabled Owned Small Business Christmas Gift Guide

    9 November 2020 /

Welcome to The World in My Words Disabled Owned Small Business Gift Guide! I am excited to share these nine small businesses with you all. Shopping local and with small businesses is something that has been encouraged a lot more over the last few years and this year in particular. There are many small businesses created by chronically ill/disabled people, whether they’ve chosen to start a small business or needed to due to limited employment options. I love to support small businesses for a multitude of reasons including ethical and environmental but being able to support the Disabled Community is very important to me. Many of these small business owners…

5 Tips for Living with PoTS

    8 October 2020 /

AD| Affiliate Link *Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional and I am sharing my own personal experiences.* 1. If you can do it laying down, do it laying down! Sitting upright can be challenging when living with PoTS. So use your upright time wisely by doing everything you can laying down. Split your upright time between things you have to do like chores and things you want to do like hobbies, dinner with family. Whatever you do try to find some balance. 2. STAY. HYDRATED. And use Electrolytes. Tips on staying hydrated are probably better coming from someone who doesn’t spend most of her time dehydrated but it’s a…
